Compensation: $70,000-$85,000 annually plus bonus


Position Summary

The Production Manager oversees all manufacturing operations within a production facility, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality construction of manufactured and modular homes. This role is responsible for driving production output, managing plant supervisors, and coordinating cross-functional activities to meet delivery schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives. The Production Manager plays a key leadership role in optimizing workflows, improving build processes, and maintaining consistent production performance from framing through final assembly.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production Leadership & Planning

  • Lead daily production operations for manufactured homes, ensuring alignment with delivery schedules, build specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Establish production priorities across all construction phases, including framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, finishing, and final line completion.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set production targets, cost controls, and performance metrics for the facility.

Operational Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with procurement, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure uninterrupted production flow and efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Oversee workforce planning to ensure proper staffing levels and skill alignment across all production lines.
  • Manage workflow across multiple build stages to optimize throughput and minimize bottlenecks.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Review production, quality, safety, and maintenance reports to identify trends, inefficiencies, and nonconformance issues.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to drive productivity, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste and rework.
  • Develop and standardize operating procedures to improve consistency, quality, and efficiency in home construction processes.

Equipment & Process Optimization

  • Partner with engineering and maintenance teams to improve equipment performance and modify production processes to enhance build quality and efficiency.
  • Respond to equipment failures or production challenges by adjusting schedules and deploying resources to minimize downtime.

Quality & Safety Integration

  • Ensure production processes consistently meet company quality standards, HUD code requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and quality throughout the plant.
  • Work in partnership with the Quality Manager to reduce defects and improve customer satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly manages production supervisors overseeing plant employees across all stages of home construction.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of production leadership staff.
  • Ensures accountability, clear communication, and alignment across all production teams.
  • Handles employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or home building environment (manufactured housing strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of residential construction processes, including modular or assembly-line home production.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and operational decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and leadership capabilities across all organizational levels.
  • Experience with production planning, workforce management, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and delivering to customer requirements.
  • Project management skills with ability to execute multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Results-driven mindset with strong business judgment.

Education and Experience

  • Associate or technical degree in Manufacturing, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, construction, or related production environments.
  • Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in residential or industrial production settings will be considered.
